Ebook About If life were a sh*t sandwich, Evan Parker would be buried in a buffet of dung. Half wolf shifter, half magic user, he hasn’t come into his powers yet, although his aunt who he lives with, assures him it’s only a matter of time. Evan hasn’t got a clue what difference having powers will make. He can barely talk, he has post-it notes and lists around his apartment to help him function, and his wolf form is as mute as he is. Combine that with the necklace of scars that cover his neck, and Evan knows he has nothing to offer any guy, let alone a mate… or does he?Odin, Norse god, know-it-all and overly curious person, knows who Evan is to him. Rather than dismiss his vision, Odin changes his appearance, masks his scent and goes digging into Evan’s life to find out what makes him so special. It had to be something amazing, otherwise the Norns (Fates) wouldn’t have picked the young wolf to be his companion for eternity. The more Odin sees, the more he likes…It should’ve been a straightforward mating, but it wasn’t. A local coven has Evan on their agenda. Odin’s wolves get overly playful. Then there’s the lovely Frigg, who the coven believes is Odin’s wife, hanging around yelling OMG, and that’s without considering how Thor and Loki might feel about the whole situation. Dead warriors arm wrestling, talking ravens, did I mention the demon? What more does this story need? An HEA.This book is part of a series but can definitely be read as a standalone. It involves a spot of violence, a bit of swearing, and intimate situations between men which should only be read by adults.Book Special Enough: Odin's Story (The Gods Made Me Do It Book 10) Review :
I was prepared not to like Odin after the way he treated Orin but the way his care and love for Evan won me over. I enjoyed the Norse myth elements (lifelong reader of Norse sagas and the prose and Poetic Eddas in English)Evan suffered so much early in the book and that was hard to read. It worked well that Odin never really turned his back on Evan; there were few misunderstandings between them. But there were plenty of issues with the local Coven, the wolf pack, Loki, etc.I am hoping the unnamed demon gets a story at some point, he feels like a bridge between Gods and Cloverleah.Oh, and the final scene with the Coven is perfect. No one does justice (or maybe comeuppance) like Lisa Oliver. Lisa Oliver is an author that I enjoy and I almost always buy her books as they are released. This series, The Gods Made Me Do It, has been my favorite and all of the books have been fun to read and I've really enjoyed the characters. This book, however, was a bit of a disappointment to me and I'm not sure why. I did have trouble getting through the first part with all of the horrible things the coven did to Evan and, in fact, almost didn't finish the book. A rarity for me with a Lisa Oliver book. These books have usually been a lot more fun. I didn't care much for Odin I think because he was too self absorbed. I know he got better as the book progressed but his care of Evan didn't ring true to me. I'm sure it's just me, but this one was not my favorite. Also, as an aside, Loki was a particularly nasty character that I hated and Lisa is going to have to do a lot to make him sympathetic in his own book. I have no doubt that this book was an anomaly and the next one will be better (even if it is for Loki).
